Meme Challenge: Dank Memes Games

Description

A very amusing app that will make you LOL all the way through. The meme culture is often associated with the advent of the internet. However, the term actually refers to a pattern of social behavior that began much earlier. Inasmuch as human beings were copying, reproducing, or even modifying a chunk of information (such as a joke heard in a private meeting), they were using what we now call “memes”. However, it was with Richard Dawkins that the word began to be utilized, and, well, sometime later, the internet would happen, and you know what comes next!

Meme Challenge: Dank Memes brings people together to laugh at some of the most over-the-top and non-sensical memes that have graced the internet in years past. You compete with other players to get new meme cards that could be used in other matches. Basically, you will be given a prompt (a question or a phrase for the most part), and your task is to put down the card that you think adequately answers it. The player that puts down the funnier card wins the round. Here's the tricky part, though. While the game might give you the impression that you’re playing against another human player, your biggest opponent is actually the computer, which will determine who places the funniest card and, therefore, who deserves to win the most points. This can lead to some weird results that may seem even arbitrary (after all, humor is kinda subjective, innit?) I did witness cases in which the computer granted higher scores to my opponent even when the card they played didn’t make the slightest sense in relation to the prompt.

On another note, the jokes were legitimately funny (be advised that they are not exactly suitable for children or teens in many cases.) On the flip side, the visual presentation is not what I’d call fantastic. The character models look a bit freaky, and I would have preferred if the developers stuck to the cards and the jokes themselves. But the most irritating aspect of this game is, arguably, the ads. You see, almost everything in this game can be unlocked by watching ads, something I have absolutely no issue with. I don’t mind watching ads if I can get any bonus achievements out of them. What I don’t appreciate is being forced to watch the motherfreaking ads after virtually every single action I make in the game! It’s not even the ads that are the main problem, but the frequency with which they show. If you want to monetize with ads, at least let me play the darned game while you’re at it!

If that wasn’t enough, these ads show up even if I don’t wish to claim an additional reward when asked! I mean, why? Why would they give me the option if they were going to go ahead and play it anyways?! (Guess I have no choice but to claim the reward, then!)What’s even worse is that some ads can literally break the game, and I mean literally! Depending on the ad you are being shown, you may run into the problem of it not showing altogether or not displaying the close button upon finishing, so you’re essentially compelled to shut the app down and relaunch it to keep playing. This is absolutely inexcusable!

I would’ve loved it if the publisher gave us the option to purchase an ad-free version or at least give us more incentives to play them on our own accord instead of obliging us to endure these nuisances every 30 seconds! All of this ultimately creates a momentum problem that prevents me from enjoying the game any further. The time I spent between watching the ads and opening packs dwarfs any time spent playing the actual game, which is pretty cringe if you ask moi!

Meme Challenge: Dank Meme is one game I sincerely wish could recommend more. It has the potential to be a genuinely fun game to help you pass time. Regretfully, the ads issue gets too out of hand and ruins the gaming experience tremendously. I would not mind paying money for a full version without ads (within certain boundaries, of course), but, until that happens or the ad display rate is adequately balanced, this game will remain uninstalled from my device.
